Bye Bye Birdies

I found these poster images on Communication Arts’ website last week. The design is captivating.

As written on the website: London- and Los Angeles-based Binary & The Brain designed this poster in association with BirdLife International to raise awareness of the 52 birds in the UK that are on the endangered species list. Printed on 100 percent recycled matte heavy stock, each of the 52 birds used to create the letterforms are numbered for identification.

Sherwin Williams

If anyone knows me, they know that I am a color fanatic. I love to choose palettes for homes and offices. Usually, I find myself spec’ing Sherwin WIlliams colors from the fan deck I purchased a couple of years ago. This ad campaign is creative and clever. The paper sculptures created make color feel friendly. You would be surprised, a lot of people are afraid of color. I say don’t be afraid, embrace it!

GOOD infographics

Here is my blog post about an infographic about blogging.

I found this infographic that breaks down “where-the-stuff-on-the-internet-comes-from.” It reveals “Politics” is the most popular blog topic and “Technology” is the most popular topic to tweet. They can file this post under “Education.”

New Birkenstock Ad Campaign

These ads caught my eye today - featured on Communications Arts. As an avid Birkenstock wearer, I can say that when I slip on one of my many pairs, I feel absolute comfort. This campaign totally depicts that. I love the use of color, pattern and storytelling. Kudos to the designers.

Design by D/C in San Francisco, CA.

Mercury Labs +

I attended an open house event for Mercury Labs last night. What a cool space and a cool vibe. They recently re-branded themselves with ad agency, Boxing Clever. The company has been in St. Louis for the past 5 years. Check out their website at www.mercury-labs.com to learn more.

GOOOOOOAAAAAL

The US has been eliminated, but it’s not to late to post some interesting examples from the past, present and future of World Cup design.

WORLD CUP POSTERS SINCE 1930

A history of the World Cup posters with some bad (US 1994) and some good, including my favorite from Mexico 70.

Mexico 70

SOCCER AID POSTER

Treble Seven, a design firm in England, has designed a poster for Soccer Aid which raises money for UNICEF to help children around the world.

You can view the poster and buy one here.

BRAZIL 2014 AND BEYOND

Here is a look at the 2014 Brazil logo, which raised some controversy in Brazil for spelling the name with a Z and not an S.

Finally, check out GoUSABid.com to find out how you can help bring the World Cup to the US in 2018 or 2022.
